The Golf Groove Indoor Special

Valente Panattoni celebrates a clutch moment on the 18th at St Andrews.

On Tuesday 12th February, seven of us met to play at The Golf Groove in Wimbledon.

This is an indoor golf facility, with 12 bays for you to play any major course you desire. We selected the back nine at the old course at St Andrews on 2 of the bays.

The staff there were really helpful, and this was arranged by Simon Earle who is very good friends with Richard who owns The Golf Groove.

We met for a 3pm start and had a great time. The Golf Groove supplied very good quality Callaway golf clubs, for right and left handed players, but you are free to bring your own.

I am not sure what all the fuss is about, as Valente who won the day, came in at 6 under, even dropping his third shot on the 18th, about 4 feet past the pin, and then we watched the ball back spin into the hole, for a birdie to finish (see photo above).

Valente’s prize, donated by the owner Richard was a voucher for 8 people to play (I think he is telling his wife he’s treating the family to a day out !!!!!). So thank you Richard who had not only given the voucher, but gave us all a huge discount and after the golf we sat down and had pizza or burgers together.

They have a bar, so as some of us were on the train, beers were had, and for those who drove in, there is a car park underneath the shopping centre where the Golf Groove is. The only issue are the disabled bays in the car park are the other end from the lift, which takes you direct to the Golf Groove, but that is not the Golf Grooves fault.

You can really enjoy yourselves with friends and family of all ages with interactive golf games for kids to keep them interested. We hope to organise another event later in the year and Richard is very keen to work with us and hopefully we are beginning a good relationship with The Golf Groove.

Please click here to visit their website and have a look at the services they offer, also watch out for announcements in the future for another enjoyable social event with the DGA.

Regards

Neil
