Major – Trevor Sherrington Memorial Trophy
Our 2nd Major is the Trevor Sherrington Memorial Trophy which is held at Wellingbourough Golf Club.
Trevor had been a long time and respected member of the DGA, who sadly died of his illness in 2020. John Riordan who is a long time friend of Trevor and his partner Gillian Heafield decided to start an event to honour Trevor’s memory.
Our inaugural event was held at Staverton Golf Club, but it was later decided that this event should be held at Trevor’s home club Wellingbourough GC. This change was positively received by senior club members who played with Trevor, who undoubtedly honour his memory along with the DGA returning each year to this prestigious and historical event.

Winning the Trevor Sherrington Memorial Trophy marked the pinnacle of my golfing life with the DGA. The fantastic condition of the course, coupled with the gracious assistance from the members who guided us through the round, added to the overall experience. Winning this prestigious trophy is not only an honor but also a privilege, and participating in this match has been a truly memorable experience.
