The DGA is run by volunteers and relies on its income from membership fees and playing charges and donations – principally from Golf Club Captain’s Charities.
So we are delighted to get a call from Neil Smith, Captain at Long Ashton GC, Bristol, to say “Come and collect a cheque for £6,929.65 which Neil had raised during his year as club captain.
Neil said ” I had wanted my year to raise money which could be used directly for golf and when I saw what the DGA were doing through their website, I though they would be a good cause to support.”
Receiving the cheque Stan Bembenek DGA Chair, said “We are always humbled by support we receive from the wider golfing community.
Neil’s support, and that of Long Ashton Golf Club is hugely generous and important to the DGA.
As a charity with no central government or local agency funding, every penny counts and Neil’s donation will allow us to deliver more activities in 2023.
