2023 Northern Open Winner
Dale Banks, Whitefield GC
Winning the Northern Open was amazing as I was familiar with Whitefield GC as I've played the course last year so I felt comfortable. I played well and my gross score was 79 which was my 2nd best score during the season scoring 42pts. With England Captain John Riordan presenting me with the silver salver it was and early birthday present for me. Happy days, as I look forward to defending again in next July.
2022 Northern Open Winner
Dave Walls, Carden Park, Cheshire
After winning a number of events over the years with the DGA, my stand out event has to be the Northern Open at Carden Park GC. This beautiful par 72, 6348 yards off the yellow tees with a slope rating of 133 making it probably one of the tougher tracks we play, add to this it was as far as I am aware the only stroke play event undertaken by the DGA. To return a net 69, 3 under par round playing what is undoubtedly the purest form of golf against a strong field, I consider this to be one of my major achievements in the ten years being involved with the DGA.
