Over the last 8 years, earning a spot to represent England against Wales, Scotland, and the USA has enriched my life with friendships and a meaningful purpose. It’s a unique honor and privilege to Captain the team in 2024, anticipating another thrilling golf season.
Internationals
In 2010, The DGA founders, Graeme and Sue, ignited a vision that would spark thrilling international golf battles. Their talks with Jim Gales MBE paved the way for the birth of a spectacular tradition, starting in 2011 with the Ryder Cup-inspired showdown at Slaley Hall. England triumphed, earning the title of Auld Enemies.
The saga continued in 2012 at Breadsall Priory, where Scotland sought revenge and claimed glory. The DGA’s growth led to a Welsh chapter, uniting nations in 2013 for epic clashes at Kinross and Pontypridd. England emerged victorious, setting the stage for a double international season in 2014, facing Scotland at The Shire and overcoming Wales at The Wiltshire.
In 2015, England’s dominance persisted against Wales at The Vale. The final chapter of the traditional format of playing two internationals in one season unfolded in 2016, with memorable duels against Scotland at Cardrona and Wales at the Cotswolds. England and Wales traded victories, marking the end of an era.
The DGA’s evolution introduced a constitutional team event in 2017, witnessing Wales secure a double triumph over England at St. Mary’s. The following years showcased thrilling encounters, including Scotland’s success at Oulton Hall in 2018 and Wales’ impressive win at Wychwood in 2019.
The pinnacle arrived in 2022, as the Forest of Arden hosted a monumental four-nation showdown. England, Scotland, Wales, and the USA battled, but the ultimate victor was undeniable—DISABILITY.
The tradition persisted in 2023, with Wales once again claiming the spoils in a hard-fought match. The legacy of the DGA lives on, a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and fierce competition in the world of disabled golf.
