International Tri-Nations in Dublin

1st Place Mike Overton (Wales Chairman)

Stackstown Tri-Nation

Dublin is buzzing with excitement as it plays host to their first-ever tri-nation event, where the England & Wales Disabled Golf Associations bring their teams to Ireland for an epic showdown with the Disabled Ireland Golf Association (DIGA)! This groundbreaking event isn’t just about competition; it’s a celebration of international friendship and the growing opportunities for disabled golfers everywhere.

Over three action-packed days at the stunning Stackstown Golf Club, the event kicks off with a Practice/Stableford competition on Day 1, followed by thrilling Matchplay on Day 2, and Singles matches on Day 3. The grand finale? A Gala Dinner where everyone comes together to celebrate this unforgettable experience.

DGA are immensly grateful to Donna & James Eaton from HPH Ltd (Huyton Plumming & Heating Ltd) for sponsoring goodie bags for all teams at the event. This was a lovely gesture which was warmly received by all participants.

A Huge Thanks goes to Ian Slowther our 2023 Golf Carts Europe Order Of Merit Winner for sponsoring our jackets (as seen in the team photo) for Dublin as we continue to raise awareness in disability golf. Team England in this event comprises – England Captain David G Kirkham, Dave Walls,  Alan Orchard, Jane White, Brian White, Dale Banks, Shaun Thompson, Charlie White, Carol Grinnell, Dale Banks, Phil Crosby, James Eaton, Billy McAllister + Tony Waller and Duncan Campbell. A special thanks goes out to Carol Brill (DIGA) & Lesley Bain (DGA) who facilitated this event respectively with both captains and staff to make this event possible and accessible.

Day 1 brought some serious challenges as blustery rain tested the teams, but that didn’t stop the fierce competition. After battling through the tough conditions, James Eaton secured 3rd place with 34 points, Phil Crosby took 2nd on a countback with 35 points, and Welsh Chairman Mike Overton emerged victorious with 35 points. Huge congratulations to all! And as if the day couldn’t get any better, the winners were awarded their trophies by none other than Honorary Member and Three-Time Major Champion Padraig Harrington (The Open 2007/8 & US PGA 2008 with 40 Professional Tour Wins), who got his start playing amateur golf right here at Stackstown!
