King of the Castle
A new venue for the DGA which is part of the Golf Company. Castle Royle, situated just outside Reading is one of the few members only clubs, to extent that only members can play, no day tickets and no societies are permitted. From an initial introduction arranged by Ian Jones I met with the Golf Director who agreed we could make use of Ian’s member day to hold an event for the DGA. This meeting also open doors to book events at other venues within the group. So, a big thank you to Ian Jones.
The course and greens were fantastic condition, but many of us struggled with the rough, it was bad, many balls were lost. Unfortunately, despite several days of sunny weather the days before Wednesday started with light rain turning into a downpour and back to drizzle till the end, forcing some members to retire back to the club house.
A big thank you to Andrew George and the catering staff for making the event run smoothly.
