Match Report  Redlibbets 7th  May

Under sunny skies, the Golf Carts Europe OOM event persevered at Redlibbets GC, albeit with a smaller turnout than anticipated. Despite fielding only a foursome, the competition remained fierce, particularly amidst the sweltering heat that had been sorely missed over the recent bank holiday weekend.

Throughout the day, the exceptional team at Redlibbets demonstrated unwavering hospitality, ensuring a warm and accommodating experience for all participants, despite the reduced numbers. Their efforts are deeply appreciated, and despite the challenging conditions exacerbated by recent wet weather, the course remained both demanding and equitable.

Regrettably, Keith Dolman was forced to withdraw after nine holes from the round due to health reasons, yet the remaining group persevered, demonstrating resilience and determination. Peter McLachlan secured third place with a commendable score of 25 points, showcasing his adeptness on a course he knows intimately. Anthony Roberts, last year’s champion, claimed the runner-up position with 26 points, sharing the day’s experience with his father-in-law. However, it was Alan Baker who emerged victorious with an impressive score of 30 points, buoyed by his proficiency with a new putter and woods, particularly excelling on the back nine holes.

Ultimately, beyond the competitive aspects of the event, it was the frienship and sense of community among participants that proved to be the true highlight of the day, underscoring the invaluable social aspect with these events.
