Selby Crowns A New Winner

April begins in the radiant sunshine of Selby, where our journey kicks off with an explosion of energy and high skill as the Order Of Merit continues. As the lush greens beckon two new faces, Graham Hunt and local legend Chris Young, join our ranks alongside fifteen eager golfers. We started on the daunting 425-yard Par 4 first hole, fueled by the promise of another day of golfing adventures and the coveted Order of Merit Points.

While some of us conquer the greens, others find themselves in a battle against the course’s notorious drainage system and iconic bunkers and trees waiting for those errant shots. But amidst the challenges, the spirit of competition soars high. Jane White, making a triumphant return from injury, showcases her resilience with a stellar round, securing third place with 32 points. Close on her heels is Dave Walls, proving consistency with back-to-back runner-up finishes at 33 points. And then, a moment of brilliance unfolds as Andrew Steward clinches victory after securing the only birdie of the day, soaring to the top with an impressive 38 points.

As we gather in the picturesque clubhouse, overlooking the breathtaking vistas of the 15th green, 16th tee, and the dramatic 18th, we celebrate our triumphs and toast the challenges conquered. Special thanks to the green staff and clubhouse for treating our taste buds with a delicious meal followed by an appetising desert

But the excitement doesn’t end there. We concluded our day, by welcoming Luke Hames, the dynamic owner of Golf Carts Europe, to crown Ian Slowther as our 2023 Order of Merit Champion. The iconic GCE trophy gleams in the sunlight, symbolizing not just victory, but the testimony of endurance and passion that unite us all on this exhilarating journey on the GCE Order Of Merit.

Next up is Canons Brook on the 4th of April and Warley Park 11th of April both (South Events) with Darrington on the 12th (North)
